INAUGURAL CONFERENCE ON
APOCALYPTIC THEMES IN EARLY CHRISTIANITY

Brookline, MA - Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is pleased to
announce the inaugural conference of the Stephen and Catherine Pappas
Patristic Institute entitled, "Apocalyptic Themes in Early Christianity."
This event will be held October 14 -16 on the campus of Holy Cross in
Brookline, Massachusetts.
The plenary speakers at the conference will include key scholars in ancient
Christianity, such as Brian Daley from Notre Dame University, Bernard
McGinn from the University of Chicago, Alexander Golitzin from Marquette
University, John McGuckin from Columbia/Union Theological Seminary and
Theodore Stylianopoulos from Holy Cross School of Theology. On Friday
evening, October 15, Nancy Sevenko will present a slide lecture on "Images
of the Second Coming in the Middle Byzantine Period," which will be open to
the public. This session will be held at 7:30 in the Maliotis Center on
the campus of Holy Cross.

number. The cost of the conference is $50, which includes meals during the
conference at the campus cafeteria, and is payable upon arrival on October

Founded in 2003, the Stephen and Catherine Pappas Patristic Institute of
Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology seeks to further the study of
Patristic writings and material culture in an ecumenical setting by
providing funding for research and publication initiatives and by
organizing conferences to foster discussion and collaboration.
