Official News Release: Anglican Primate to hold news conference on Eames
Report
Toronto, October 14, 2004 -- Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, Primate of the
Anglican Church of Canada, will hold a news conference on Monday, Oct.
18, at 1:30 p.m. to make a statement on the Eames Report and to answer
questions. Also attending the news conference will be the Rev. Canon
Alyson Barnett-Cowan, director of the church's Faith, Worship and
Ministry department and a member of the Eames Commission.
The commission, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Robin Eames of
Armagh, was appointed about a year ago by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan
Williams to make recommendations to Anglican Primates on how the
Anglican Communion can be held together. Events such as the blessing of
same-sex unions in the Canadian Anglican Church and the ordination of a
gay bishop by the Episcopal Church in the United States have strained
the Communion in recent years.
The commission's report is scheduled for release at a news conference in
London on Monday, Oct. 18, and will be posted to the web simultaneously.
Archbishop Hutchison's news conference will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the
Boardroom at the Anglican Church's General Synod offices, 80 Hayden
Street, Toronto.
