ABCUSA: Griffin, Hulst and Hamblin Nominated as 2006-2007 Officers

American Baptist News Service (Green Lake, Wis. 11/20/04)--The Rev. Drs.
Arlee Griffin Jr., Mary Hulst and Lloyd Hamblin Jr. have been nominated as
officers for American Baptist Churches USA for the biennium 2006-2007.	They
will be presented to delegates for possible election at the 2005 Biennial
Meeting next July 1-3 in Denver, Colo., and if elected will assume their new
responsibilities Jan. 1, 2006.

The nominations were announced here during sessions of the ABCUSA General
Board by Manuel Luquin, chair of the Nominating Committee.

Griffin, senior pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the
current vice president of the denomination, is the nominee for president. 
Among other responsibilities he is serving on the General Board Executive
Committee, the ABCUSA Nominating Committee, the Biennial Program Committee
and The Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board. 

Hulst, senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Denver, Colo., is the
nominee for vice president.  An  evening worship leader at the 1995 Biennial
Meeting of American Baptist Churches in Syracuse, N.Y., Hulst also will
provide leadership for worship and Bible study at the 2005 Biennial Meeting
next July in Denver. 

Hamblin, executive pastor of South Parkersburg Baptist Church in Parkersburg,
W.V., is the nominee for budget review officer.  He previously served as
executive minister of the West Virginia Baptist Convention, one of 35 regions
within American Baptist Churches USA.
