American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 1/19/05)--Grace
Herstine, who served on the staffs of the American Baptist Foundation
and International Ministries, retired from International Ministries at
the end of last month.

Herstine began in 1988 as communications director with the American
Baptist Foundation, while it was still functioning as the planned giving
services of National and Educational Ministries and known as the
American Baptist Foundation for Ministry in the USA. In July 1989
International Ministries and a majority of the American Baptist regions
joined the foundation and the name was shortened to American Baptist
Foundation.

She resigned in September 2000 to become planned giving director at
Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa. She served in that
capacity until May 31, 2002, when the position was eliminated as part of
budgetary cuts.

Herstine rejoined the American Baptist national staff in July 2002 as
development officer for International Ministries, from which position
she retired Dec. 31, 2004.

"We are deeply grateful for the good work that Grace has done on behalf
of all American Baptists and, most recently, on behalf of International
Ministries," said Charles Jones, acting executive director. "We thank
God for her ministry and pray God's blessings upon her as she enters
into retirement."
