Archbishop of Cape Town and General Secretary of South African Council of
Churches in Kenya to address Tsunami Disaster in Somalia, other issues

The head of the Anglican Church in Cape Town, South Africa, Archbishop
Njongonkulu Ndungane and Rev. Dr. Molefe Tsele, the General Secretary of
the South African Council of Churches will hold a press conference in the
VIP Lounge of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Friday, 21 January at
2:30 pm to discuss their visit to Somalia to assess damage from the
December Tsunami and network with church bodies to explore possibilities
for effectively distributing aid money collected by religious communities
in South Africa. The Press conference is sponsored and facilitated by the
Fellowship of Churches and Councils in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa
(FECCLAHA) and the All African Conference of Churches (AACC).

2005 is a year for Africa.  It is a make or break year. Said Archbishop
Ndungane in a meeting with AACC Executive Staff on Wednesday, 19
January.  He went on to emphasize the importance of exercising the ministry
of presence among the people of Somalia, as a pastoral visit might bring
hope to those who had suffered as a result of the Tsunami s devastation.

Ndungane, Tsele, and AACC General Secretary Rev. Dr. H. Mvume Dandala will
take questions on the Tsunami Relief effort and other related issues at the
press conference.

Journalists needing transport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport may
meet at Chester House at 1 PM.	Interested journalists should call to
reserve a spot.  Kindly remember to carry your press/national
identification cards or passports with you to enable us have you allowed in
at the VIP Lounge.
