American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 3/4/05)--Mae E.
Callahan, western representative of The American Baptist Extension
Corporation (ABEC), retired February 28.

At ABEC Callahan provided loan, investment and building planning counsel
to American Baptist individuals, churches and related institutions
primarily in the Western states that comprise these ABC regions:
Alaska, Northwest, Evergreen, West, Dakotas, Oregon, Pacific Southwest,
Los Angeles, Nebraska, Rocky Mountains and a portion of Central. She
joined ABEC in 1993. Callahan also was commissioned as a home
missionary in 1997.

"Mae had a tremendous passion for helping churches find ways to be more
effective in their ministry. She was an advocate for churches that
sought financing but blended that very well with getting them to
understand the need to invest with ABEC in order that other churches
could also receive financing assistance," said ABEC President Valoria L.
Cheek, Esq. "Mae has a spirit of wanting to be used effectively by God.
I look forward with her to the new ways that God will use her in service
to others."

Prior to joining ABEC, Callahan served as church administrator for
Antioch Progressive Baptist Church in Sacramento, Calif. and in a
variety of administrative and management positions at California State
University, also in Sacramento.

ABEC provides financing, facilities planning and investment services for
American Baptists.
