2004 annual report released

'Sealed in Christ' details activities of six PC(USA) agencies

LOUISVILLE ? "Sealed in Christ," the 36-page 2004 annual report of the six
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) national agencies, was published over the
weekend at the National Pastors Retreat in Snowbird, Utah.

	The report, which details the work of the agencies ? the General
Assembly Council, the Office of the General Assembly, the Presbyterian
Publishing Corporation, the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation, the
Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program and the Board of Pensions ? will be
sent to every congregation, synod and presbytery; all PC(USA) missionaries
overseas; and all PC(USA) resource centers, affiliated colleges and
theological institutions.

	The cost of printing 18,000 copies of the report was shared by the
six agencies.

	This document's title is derived from the commemoration this year of
the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Presbyterian Seal, which was
created for the denomination after Presbyterian reunion in 1983. Explanations
of the various elements that make up the seal are interspersed throughout the
report.

	The full-color report "is a good way to understand the workings of
all six national agencies of the church," said Mindy Marchal, associate for
external communication in the denomination's Office of Communication. "I'm
sure a lot of Presbyterians don't even know there are six national agencies,
much less what each of them does for the church."

	The report can be used for session retreats and adult study groups,
Marchal said. "Particularly as we go through the transition to biennial
General Assemblies (2005 is the first year in history without an Assembly),
this report is a good way for Presbyterians to stay connected." She said it
"represents fundamental accountability of resources received and money spent
by the agencies."
