TAINAN

Tainan Theological College awarded a total of 68 certificates and diplomas
on June 8th, including 15 Master of Divinity and 13 Doctor of Ministry
degrees. One of three international students participating in a Master of
Theology programme taught in English, Gideon Paulo Kivuyo from the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, received his degree.

TAIPEI

Taiwan Theological College included the celebration of the Eucharist in a
baccalaureate service before graduation ceremony this year. Taiwan¡¦s
former president Lee Teng-hui, a Presbyterian layman, preached the
sermon. 53 diplomas, including 24 Master of Divinity degrees, were
presented the next day.

HUALIEN

Yushan Theological College, which is dedicated to preparing church leaders
for Taiwan¡¦s Aboriginal churches, awarded 37 diplomas, 13 of which were to
students who completed the Master of Divinity programme. College
vice-president Chen Nanjou preached on ¡§Mission in Jesus¡¦ Way¡¨ at the
ceremony.

KAOHSIUNG

Holy Light Theological College, affiliated with the Free Methodist Church,
saw 36 people graduate, 18 of whom took the M.Div and 14 a Master¡¦s degree
in Counseling. The college is heavily promoting a special programme on life
change and counseling from June 20-22 to which it has invited scholars from
overseas.

YOUTH AT RISK

Glory Covenant Church in Taipei operates the ¡§Seize the Wind Youth
Programme¡¨ in conjunction with the Taipei city department of education. It
aims to provide the stable environment with attention and care needed by
youth at risk who are having a difficult time participating in regular
school life. The students have all been suspended from school for one
reason or another. In mid-June the programme held its 6th ¡§Extreme
Graduation¡¨ ceremony. Of 18 students in the school, 9 were considered
successfully rehabilitated. Seven obtained diplomas and two were returned
to their original schools.
