On Saturday, July 2, 2005 at 10 AM, Thousands of People from all walks of life will gather at Uhuru Park to be part of an important event: The People s March For Justice: an Interfaith and Civil Society Organization Campaign to End Global Poverty.

Organized in conjunction with the Kenyan Global Call of Action against Poverty (GCAP) Coalition, the People s March is an interfaith and civil society initiative calling for immediate cancellation of debts without harmful conditions, trade justice, more and better quality aid, and transparent and accountable governance in African countries.

On this day, people will gather at 9 AM to march to Uhuru Park from the following points:

Kenya National Library Services
Holy Family Basilica
Jamia Mosque
University Way Roundabout

From there, The People s march will proceed to Uhuru for an interfaith rally featuring a number of speakers expressing solidarity with those affected by unfair global policies on trade, aid, and debt. There will also be a mass signing of a giant petition which will be forwarded to the G8 nations.

Members of the Christian, Muslim, Hindu, and Baha i communities will join up with NGOs, Trade Unions, civil society, and youth movements, and thousands of citizens, all uniting together to demand that both national and global leaders take action to eradicate poverty.

This event will present a historic opportunity for all those who wish to express solidarity with people all over the world caught in the cycle of poverty. We invite all those who want to add their voices to the growing demand to bring an end to poverty in Africa and the world to join those marching, wear a white band, and contribute in whatever way they can to make this day a success.
