Middle East Council of Churches meets with LWF

A reception and a celebrative worship service were organized by the
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jerusalem and the Holy Land
(ELCJHL)respectively on August 27 and 28, 2005, on the occasion of the
official visit to Jordan of Rt. Rev. Dr. Mark S. Hanson, president of the
Lutheran World Federation and Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America (ELCA) and the Most Rev. Dr. Ishmael Noko, LWF General
Secretary.

These events were attended by MECC General Secretary, Mr. Guirgis
Saleh who delivered a word during the worship service, highlighting ELCA¹s
rejection of the separation wall and underlining the support the ELCA had
always given to the Palestinian cause, to the Iraqi people, to co-existence
and to Christian presence and witness in the region.
