MECC Participates in the WCC GEN Meeting in Miami

Church World Service (CWS) in Miam, Florida, hosted the Global Ecumenical
Network for Uprooted People (GEN) meeting this year, from September 9-12,
2005, in its offices. Around forty participants from different continents,
representatives of churches and ecumenical networks working with and for
uprooted people, shared information and experiences on refugee and migration
issues from their own regional perspectives. From the MECC, Ms. Seta
Hadeshian, Life and Service director and Dr. Bernard Sabella, DSPR executive
secretary attended this meeting which paid particular attention to the
detention of migrants and refugees worldwide, trafficking and abuse of
migrant women. Participants reaffirmed the importance of the GEN.
Participants also had the opportunity to hear from the CWS staff about their
activities and the different areas of work and visited the premises. For
