wfn.org | MECC Participates in the WCC Pre-Assembly Regional Meeting

The WCC Pre-Assembly Regional Meeting for the Middle East convened from
September 28-30, 2005, in Damascus, Syria.  MECC General Secretary, Mr.
Guirgis Saleh and WCC Middle East Desk Secretary, Mr. Michel Nseir, welcomed
the participants to this important meeting.  Around 40 church
representatives, delegates to the WCC 9th General Assembly (February 2006),
resource persons, MECC and WCC staff were present. The program included
bible studies and theological reflections on the assembly theme "God, in
Your Grace, Transform the World" contributed by theologians from the
different families of churches.  Practical informations about the assembly
were also shared with the participants.

Discussions in small groups were focused on a Middle Eastern perspective on
the assembly theme, issues and concerns particular to the region and the
themes of the Mutiraos proposed.  For more information, kindly contact Mr.
