American Baptist News Service (Valley Forge, Pa. 10/20/05)--David
Chandler will join National Ministries as online managing editor on Nov.
14. In this position Chandler will be instrumental in updating and
managing the content and design of National Ministries' Web site.
Chandler comes to National Ministries from the Office of Communication
of American Baptist Churches USA where he held primary responsibility
for electronic media development, most notably the content and design of
the denomination's Web site - www.abc-usa.org. He also supervised the
production of several editions of the ABCUSA multimedia magazine on
CD-ROM and provided substantial Internet and production support for the
Seek It! denominational appreciative inquiry process.
"National Ministries is blessed to have the opportunity to add David
Chandler, and his gifts and skills, to its communication efforts," said
Susan Gottshall, associate executive director for communications. "In
this time, with the ever-increasing importance of electronic media,
David's experience and his knowledge of American Baptist Churches USA
will be invaluable as we seek to improve and enhance communication with
American Baptists in churches and regions across the country."
Along with his responsibility for electronic media development at
ABCUSA, Chandler provided leadership to the denomination's Communication
Council, and he was involved in ecumenical communication planning and
dialog, most notably with the National Council of Churches and its
Worldwide Faith News Web site. He has worked frequently with the Baptist
World Alliance, for which he provided technical direction and assistance
at its 2000 Congress in Australia.
Chandler leaves the ABCUSA Office of Communication, where he served as
associate director since 1996, at the end of October, due to
reorganization within the Office of the General Secretary. Previously,
he served as an independent media consultant/producer and director of
media services for Eastern College (now Eastern University) in St.
Davids, Pa. He holds a B.S.W. degree in social work from Eastern.
Chandler is an active member of Central Baptist Church in Wayne, Pa.
