MECC Gulf Liaison, Rev. Rolf Pearson informs us that the MECC Gulf Support
Group met in Abu Dhabi on Oct 11 with 20 representatives of the churches in
the Gulf. "It was a good meeting during which several important decisions
were taken" says Rev. Pearson:

An MECC Working Group on Social Matters was formed which will seek to obtain
official recognition for the MECC in the Gulf. The group has a broad
representation of main line churches.

A Working Group on Inter-Faith issues will be formed in the near future and
ecumenical seminaries will be established in each of the Gulf countries by
2006.

Finally the discontinued MECC Gulf Newsletter will be reactivated and
published twice a year.
