VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS)-Rev. Dr. Ronald Carlson will join National
Ministries Feb. 6.

Carlson's areas of expertise include missional church planting and
church growth. He frequently makes presentations at churches, American
Baptist regional and area gatherings, and continuing pastoral education
events. "I use curriculum designed to train church leaders and
congregations to seek transformation in a changing culture, which
empowers them for outward-focused ministry," said Carlson.

Carlson most recently held the position of associate professor of
evangelism and church growth at Central Baptist Theological Seminary,
Kansas City, Kan. The Missional Church Institute he established, in
collaboration with colleagues and seminary administrators, has assisted
many churches in moving from maintenance or decline conditions into
strong ministry engagement.

"Ron's experiences as a seminary evangelism professor, practitioner and
teacher of missional church practices, and faculty member of the
National Ministries Church Planter Institute have prepared him to
forward National Ministries' goal of increasing the capacity of leaders
to excel in ministry," said Dr. David Laubach, associate executive
director for New Churches, Evangelism and Transformation.

The Rev. Marilyn Turner, associate executive director for Mission
Effectiveness, added, "We are confident that the American Baptist
family, National Ministries, our partners, and those we serve will
greatly benefit from Ron's enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment."

Carlson served eight years as a senior pastor involved in church
planting and has more than two decades of experience as a professor of
evangelism and church growth.
