Kathleen McNeely Joins Church World Service as Policy Analyst and Advocate

NEW YORK, Jan. 12--Kathleen McNeely has joined the Education and Advocacy
Program of Church World Service as policy analyst and advocate in the CWS
Washington office.

 McNeely comes to the global humanitarian agency from the Maryknoll Office
of
 Global Concerns in Washington, D.C.  Prior to that, she worked for the
Center of Concern.

In those positions her work has included education, advocacy and network
development on issues of peace, social and economic justice, and ecology.
She also has addressed issues of food security, agriculture, international
trade, international debt, small arms transfers, human rights, child
soldiers, HIV/AIDS, intellectual property rights and essential medicines,
Sudan, and U.S. African policy.

In welcoming McNeely to the staff, CWS Education and Advocacy Director
Rajyashri Waghray noted her "tremendous skill and of experience in the
Washington advocacy community."   Waghray added, "We believe that CWS will
provide her with a supportive team environment and an opportunity to grow
in her service to the ecumenical community and the cause of peace, justice
and human rights."

McNeely's advocacy work has focused on the U.S. government, international
financial institutions, the United Nations, and the corporate world.

She also spent seven years living and working in Central America with
Witness for Peace and Maryknoll Lay Missions and served for three years as
Associate Chaplain at Williams College in Massachusetts.

McNeely earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School
and a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion and Spanish literature from
Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
