JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA: Anglican Communion Theological work fully
representative of the Provinces - Approximately 35 members of the
Anglican
Communion Working Group on Theological Education (TEAC) are currently
gathered for a major meeting at Kempton Park Conference Centre near
Johannesburg, South Africa from January 14-21. The Working Group, which
includes representatives from most of the Anglican Provinces, is holding
its
second plenary meeting (the first was in June 2004) to develop the work
it
has done to date and to make specific proposals with suggestions for
implementation. The meeting will have a special focus on theological
education in Africa and will include some joint sessions with ANITEPAM
(The
African Network of nstitutions of Theological Education Preparing
Anglicans

NEW YORK CITY: Presiding Bishop will be celebrant at Huntington --
Presiding
Bishop Frank T. Griswold will serve as principal celebrant at the annual
William Reed Huntington sermon and dinner at St. Peter's Lutheran Church
in
New York City.
This annual tradition in honor of Huntington will be held on January 18
at 6
p.m. Huntington was rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Manhattan, and
author
of the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral of 1888. The Quadrilateral is the
document upon which all ecumenical dialogue between the Episcopal Church
and
other Christian churches has been based.

Rev.
Peter J. Gomes will be the featured speaker at St. James' Church Winter

keynote speaker at the Eastern Washington Legislative Conference January

sponsored by the Spokane Interfaith Council, will include policy
briefings
on legislation impacting low-income and vulnerable communities,

ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Diocese of Atlanta to hold annual MLK Concert -- The
annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Concert sponsored by the Diocese of
Atlanta and its Commission on Anti-Racism will be held at St.
Bartholomew's
on January 29 at 4 p.m.
The event attracts the participation of musicians throughout the diocese
who
perform an array of music by African-American composers, covering many
styles and genres.
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Burnham will lecture at St. Paul's Church -- The
Rev. Dr. Frederic Burnham, senior fellow at the Bennett J. Sims
Institute
for Servant Leadership and former director of Trinity (Wall
Street)Institute, will present two lectures on January 29 at St. Paul's
Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas. At 10:00 a.m., he will speak of his
experiences as one of the supervisors of ministry at St. Paul's Chapel
(New
York) in the aftermath of 9/11, "A Foretaste of the Kingdom: Finding God
at
Ground Zero."
His evening lecture, at 7:00 p.m., will focus on how individuals and
organizations can confront even overwhelming challenges effectively as
"Servant Leaders." "At Ground Zero, I witnessed the emergence of a
unique
kind of human community, one that had evolved spontaneously in the
absence
of hierarchical control and had a startling resemblance to the kind of
community that Jesus espoused in his teachings." While in Fayetteville,
Burnham will also meet with a group who are developing a Servant
Leadership
training program based at St. Paul's.

NEW YORK CITY: Reconciliation theme of Trinity Institute's national
conference - Deep divisions in the United States and the world over
issues
of personal and cultural values, a growing chasm between the wealthy and
the
dispossessed, and the clash of religious traditions are the backdrop for
this year's Trinity Institute conference.
"The Anatomy of Reconciliation - from violence to healing" is set to run
from January 30 through February 1 at Trinity Church Wall Street in New
York
City.
The keynote speakers and preachers include James Alison; Bishop Michael
Bruce Curry of the Diocese of North Carolina; Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ;
Gwendolyn Zoharah Simmons; and Miroslav Volf.
