The MECC General Secretary issued a Press Release on the recent events in the Occupied Territories stating that the Middle East Council of Churches received with great pain the news of the military operation in occupied Palestine, of the death of innocent civilians and children and the destruction of the country¹s infrastructure.
The MECC strongly condemns this military action that affects human beings, destroys material possessions and lengthens the suffering of the Palestinia n population, preventing them from living in dignity and freedom like others.
The MECC calls on the Israili Occupying Authority to stop immediately this operation as it calls upon the International Community to take immediate measures to protect the civilian population, to stop all military actions and to work on promoting political dialogue between the Occupying Authority and the Palestinian National Authority to end the violence and spare bloodshed.
