Suzanne Gibson Wise elected chair of Lutheran Services in America

Suzanne Gibson Wise, president and chief executive officer, Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas, Raleigh, N.C., was elected chair of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Services in America (LSA) during the 2006 LSA Annual Conference April 26-28. LSA, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the United States, is an alliance of nearly 300 social ministry organizations, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. LSA provides services to more than 6 million people a year.
A graduate of Florida International University, Miami, Wise earned her master's degree in human resource development from Barry University, Miami Shores, Fla., and received a professional certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University, Durham, N.C. Wise served as president of Family Service Centers of Pinellas County, Inc., Clearwater, Fla., and held leadership roles in human service agencies including the American Institute for Nonprofit Management, Sarasota, Fla.; Christian Community Service Agency, Miami; and Volunteers in Service to America, Washington D.C.
