MECC General Secretary Meets Gulf Churches in Abu Dhabi & Oman

Mr. Guirgis Saleh met with Gulf Churches¹ representatives, the MECC Gulf Support Group and government officials, including the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Advisor to State Governor, during his 4 days trip to Abu Dhabi and Oman, September 30-October 5, 2006. He also met with Director of the Al Amana center in Oman

Discussions with both Church and government representatives focused on how to enhance and strengthen relations with the Middle East Council of Churches, with the churches, with other religious communities, and with government structures. Mr. Saleh highlighted on various occasions and in different meetings, .the importance of inter-faith dialogue and its promotion. He underlined the role played by the MECC in building bridges of understanding and mutual respect between Christians and people of other faiths. He also took the opportunity to brief the Gulf churches on the Council¹s emergency operation during the war on Lebanon, last July 2006.
