Church of Sweden colleagues, Fr. Hakan Sandvik and Mr. Goran Rask spent a few days, October 5-9, 2006, in Lebanon and Syria to meet with MECC General Secretary and Senior Staff to review program activities supported by the Church of Sweden. They visited the damaged south of Lebanon, the different MECC/ACT projects implemented in the southern villages, churches and related organizations, and met with people who have lived loss and the trauma of the war. In Syria they met with Heads of Churches before leaving for Cairo, Egypt.
Evangelical Lutheran Church of America friends and colleagues also visited their partners in Lebanon, including the MECC, where they met with the MECC General Secretary and Senior Staff.
Delegation from the Covenant Church in Sweden in Lebanon
A delegation of six from the Covenant Church in Sweden visited Lebanon from October 8-12, 2006. The visit of solidarity with the churches and people of Lebanon was organized in cooperation with the Evangelical Synod of Lebanon and Syria and the MECC.
In between meetings, the delegation visited the damaged villages in the south of Lebanon and witnessed the hardships that the people of the south are now living in the aftermath of the war.
