In an address to the Heads of the Catholic Churches in their annual meeting in Egypt on 18 April, The MECC General Secretary, Mr. Guirgis Saleh gave an overview of the MECC¹s work and its role in the region. He underlined the role of the MECC in bringing churches into theological dialogue and cooperation on common issues. He emphasized the need to continue the ecumenical witness; to listen to the ³other², to differentiate between theological expressions and theological differences between churches. Ecumenism, he said, is openness rather than compromises; and finally educating the new generation on the unity of churches is a must. The General Secretary concluded his intervention proposing steps to overcome th e difficulties of dialogue between churches.
