PC(USA) communicators win five RCC awards
HORIZONS, Presbyterians Today, PDA score in 2006 competition

LOUISVILLE * Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) communicators have been recognized by the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) [http://www.religioncommunicators.org/] for their work in 2006. The RCC's DeRose-Hinkhouse Awards were presented at a ceremony here on April 26 in conjunction with the group's annual meeting.
Presbyterians won five awards.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA)
[http://www.pcusa.org/pda] received an Award of Excellence in the Documentary Video under 15 minutes category for "A Day in the Life of a Work Team," Pamela Burdine, producer. The video tracks a group of PDA volunteers as they help rebuild along the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.
PDA also won a Certificate of Merit in the Miscellaneous Periodicals category for its multi-media annual report.
Horizons [http://www.pcusa.org/pda] * the magazine of Presbyterian Women * won two Certificates of Merit: in the book writing category for Annie: Kitchen Queen; and in the Design Publication Cover category for the March/April 2006 cover. Credited for the award were HORIZONS staffers Susan Jackson Dowd, Laura Lee, Carissa Herold, Yvonne Hileman, Sharon Gillies, Stephanie Morris, Debbie Paris, Marsha Shelton, Leah Ellison Bradley.
Also winning a Certificate of Merit in the Design Publication Cover category was Presbyterians Today [http://www.pcusa.org/pda] * the denominational magazine of the PC(USA) * for the September 2006 issue. The magazine's art director is Linda Crittenden and its designer is Kate Anyan.
The Religion Communicators Council, established in 1929, is an interfaith association of religion communicators at work in print and electronic communication, marketing, and public relations.
Last week, PC(USA) journalists won 14 awards in the annual competition of the Associated Church Press [http://www.theacp.org/] * at 91 the oldest Christian press association in North America.
