PITTSBURGH, PA - Singer/songwriter David M. Bailey will perform July 13 at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary <http://www.pts.edu/>. The 7:00 p.m. event in Long Hall is free and open to the public. It is being held in conjunction with the 11th annual Summer Youth Institute. A cancer survivor for more than 10 years, Bailey performs mainly contemporary Christian music. He is the son of Presbyterian missionaries, and he spent his childhood in Beirut, Lebanon. Bailey learned his first chords in seventh grade and later went on to study classical guitar. While in college, he performed with an original acoustic duo. As an adult, Bailey made a living in the corporate world, but after doctors diagnosed him with a brain tumor and gave him months to live, he left his career and returned to his first love of songwriting and performing. Ten years, 14 albums, 43 states and hundreds of concerts later, Bailey is alive and well. He currently performs as a solo act. The Summer Youth Institute, held July 7-21, brings together high school scholars from across the United States to study the Bible with Pittsburgh Seminary faculty, shadow local pastors, engage in mission with the community and worship, reflect and pray daily. For more information about the concert or the Summer Youth Institute, contact Ellie Johns at (412) 362-5610, ext. 2159, or email <mailto:mjohns@pts.edu>.
