National Young Adult Pilgrimage to Florence, Ravenna, and Constantinople

"I learned more than I ever thought I would about the culture of my ancestors, and developed a new understanding of my faith."

Danielle Vanech, 2004-2005 Pilgrimage Participant

Reserve your space today for the National Young Adult Pilgrimage to Florence, Ravenna, and Constantinople (November 2-10, 2007)! Visit www.youth.goarch.org for pilgrimage pricing, registration information, and to view pictures and reflections from past pilgrimages. His Grace Bishop Savas and Reverend Mark Leondis will once again be our pilgrimage leaders, providing historical context as well as an Orthodox Christian perspective to the sites we visit, relating ancient events of the past to modern issues of today.

The trip begins in Constantinople where participants will travel to the Ecumenical Patriarchate (the group will have an audience with His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew), the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Agia Sophia, the Church of Christ at Chora, the Monastery of Zoodogos Pigi (the Life-Giving Spring), the great covered Bazaar, and will also experience the splendor of the city on a Bosphorus cruise. There will also be a tour of the famous Theodosian walls, which for one thousand years, until the Ottomans breached them in 1453, protected the City from invasions by land. The trip will continue to Florence, the site of an unsuccessful attempt to reunite the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches, where the group will visit the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore, Giottoâ??s Bell Tower, and the Romanesque Baptistery of St. John. A day trip to Ravenna, the ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire and an artistic bridge between the East and West, will provide the opportunity to experience the splendor of Byzantium and early Christian art, architecture, and history.

There are only a few spaces left for the trip--please call our office at 646.519.6180 immediately if you are interested, as the July 20th registration deadline has already passed. Thank you!
