Presbytery and synod news

MANCHESTER, NH - The Presbytery of Northern New England [http://www.presbyterynne.org/] recently celebrated the 6th anniversary of its Marturia Presbyterian Church. The congregation, which began in 1999 with a few families worshiping in homes in Rochester, NH, was chartered in 2001.
It has since grown to 221 members, with more than 80 attending the men's and women's fellowships and a youth fellowship of 45. The congregation is now sharing space with a United Church of Christ congregation after having nested in a Methodist church and an Episcopal church.
ANAHEIM, CA - "Domingos Gigantes" (Big Sundays) is the featured community outreach program of Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana Hispana, a new church development of Los Ranchos Presbytery [http://www.losranchos.org/]. The congregation, which shares space with First Presbyterian Church of Westminster, CA, throws its doors open each Sunday for a community meal and a celebration of one of the church's ministries.
According to pastor Jose Matos, the congregation has also embarked on its first adult Sunday school class taught in English. The teacher is a Vietnamese church member who is fluent in English. The class is also translated into Spanish. And the congregation has recently launched a campaign to raise funds for its own building.
CAMP HILL, PA - The Krislund Campaign - a $2 million fundraising effort by the presbyteries of Northumberland [http://www.northumberlandpresbytery.org/], Huntingdon and Carlisle [http://www.carlislepby.org/] to expand and enhance the ministry of their Krislund Camp and Conference Center [http://www.krislund.org/] - has passed the halfway point.
To date 74 of the three presbyteries' 149 congregations have contributed a total of $1,048,638 to the campaign, with nearly half of the total pledged by 10 congregations.
PANORAMA CITY, CA - Marj Carpenter, former General Assembly moderator and former director of the Presbyterian News Service, will be featured speaker at a celebration of Presbyterian mission sponsored by San Fernando Presbytery's [http://www.sfpresby.org/] Glendale Presbyterian Church.
Carpenter, who has traveled to mission sites in more than 100 countries around the world, will speak on Sept. 15.
MORGANTON, NC - "Let's Celebrate! All Together Now" is the theme of Western North Carolina Presbytery's [http://www.presbyterywnc.org/] leadership training event for adults and youth, Aug. 18 at First Presbyterian Church here.
The event will include workshops on a variety of topics related to outreach, Christian education, technology, small churches, evangelism and youth ministry. More information is available on the presbytery's Web site.
