VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/29/07) - National Ministries has published the first issue of The Children's Corner, a new children's ministry magazine.
The current fall/winter issue-organized around the theme "Behold the Children"-offers articles about looking at children in new ways as they begin a new school year. Included are questions for reflection concerning the plight and promise of children, a list of resources for future study, and specific suggestions for making celebrations of Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas more meaningful at church and at home.
"It is our hope," says the Rev. Marilyn Turner, National Ministries' associate executive director for Program Ministries, "that this new resource will provide readers with an ongoing witness of our continuing commitment to children and families."
This new publication will provide in-depth seasonal articles and activities designed to help those involved in children's ministry in the church. In keeping with National Ministries' commitment to making a difference in the lives of children living in poverty, each issue will feature articles, information or resources to help readers engage in children's advocacy ministry. Articles specifically written for parents and other caregivers will also be included.
The new children's ministry resource-an expanded and improved version of The Pebble newsletter-was developed out of feedback from Pebble readers along with insights from National Ministries' children's ministry staff. The Pebble will no longer be published.
Rev. Dorian Mendez-Vaz, National Ministries' national coordinator for Children's and Intergenerational Ministries, says The Children's Corner is "an open invitation to all who care for children to see them with your heart...to see them in the fullness of the glory in which God intended them to be seen...holy and worthy to be cared for and about."
The Children's Corner, scheduled for publication three times a year, will be available for download at National Ministries' Web site, www.nationalministries.org.
