Media coverage is invited of the 2007 General Assembly of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA (NCC) and Church World Service (CWS). The first three days of the General Assembly, Nov. 5-7, will be in Woodbridge, NJ. On Nov. 8 midday it will move to New York City.
Come see this broad-based ecumenical Christian body at work. Observe the Bible study they do. Hear the kinds of prayers they offer.
Watch the new NCC officers and new General Secretary be installed at St. Vartan's Armenian Orthodox Cathedral in Manhattan. Discover whether justice is part of the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast. Hear a panel report on the breakthroughs made this summer at the ecumenical gathering of Faith and Order in Oberlin, Ohio.
Witness CWS commemorate 60 years of the CROP Hunger Walk. Hear about the Ecumenical Covenant between CWS and its member communions. See the premiere of the film, "A Future with Hope: Welcoming Refugees" about how communities, employers and neighbors are helping resettle their brothers and sisters from throughout the world.
All meetings are open to the media. The 35 member communions represented at the General Assembly have 45 million faithful Christians worshiping in 100,000 congregations in all 50 states.
