DANVILLE, KY - Centre College won't host a 2008 presidential debate - most likely. The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the locations of next year's three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. Centre, which had applied for the honor, was not selected. However, it was selected along with Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC as an alternate site, should one of the chosen campuses be unable to host its event. Centre hosted the 2000 vice presidential debate between Dick Cheney and Joe Lieberman, which was watched by 28.5 million television viewers, according to the commission. The presidential debates will be at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, on Sept. 26; Belmont University in Nashville, TN, on Oct. 7; and Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, on Oct. 15. The vice presidential debate will be at Washington University in St. Louis on Oct. 2.
