An inter-orthodox consultation was held at the Volos Academy for Theological
Studies in Greece from June 8-12, under the title "Participation of Orthodox
Women in the Ecumenical Movement: Past, Present, Future...And many were
there...(Mt.27:55)".

The meeting was sponsored by the Program for Women in Church and Society of
WCC and hosted by the Diocese of Dimitrias. Forty-five women from Eastern
and Oriental Orthodox churches from 16 countries discussed the
participation, ministry and concerns of Orthodox women in the Church and the
Ecumenical Movement.
The coordinator of the MECC Women's Program, Maha Milki
Wehbe, presented a contribution entitled "Middle Eastern Women and the
Ecumenical Work-An Orthodox Involvement".
