MECC PARTICPATES IN MCC CONSULTATION

The Mennonite Central Committee held a Consultation for Europe and Middle
East regions in Istanbul Turkey (30 0ct 1 Nov) on ³Reshaping MCC for th e
21st century New Wineskins². The MCC is in a process of planning a new
strategic plan for its work and mission. It is engaging all stakeholders,
constituencies, local partners, as well as board and staff in this process
to help shaping the plan for the next 5 to 10 years. The process is called
³New Wine New Wineskins Process². The purpose of the Consultation was to
harness, focus and extend the collective wisdom of MCC representatives and
local partners in identifying new trends and opportunities for exceptional
programs and partnerships. Through a participatory, innovative, creative an d
discovery method which is used to facilitate the consultation, the MCC is
envisioning the ideal future for the regions in which it exists and
function, and identifying key strategic priorities that will guide the MCC
work for the next 10 years. 36 participants from Egypt, Russia, Ukrania,
Iran, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Bosnia, Serbia, Germany, and
Switzerland; as well as representatives from Canada and USA spent a three
days of condensed brain-storming and thinking in providing ideas,
perspectives, vision and priorities for MCC future. These priorities may
help re-shaping the structure of MCC. Mr Razek Siriani, MECC International
