FEAST OF THE GREAT MARTYR THEODORE THE TYRON:  On February 17, the Orthodox Church commemorates the Feast of the Great Martyr Theodore the Tyron.  For the story of this saint and information on how he is commemorated visit this special site.

PREPARATIONS FOR GREAT AND HOLY LENT:  As we enter this  very sacred season of the year, use this special web site for guidance, reflection, and information on the commemorations of Great Lent. NEW WEB SITE LAUNCHED BY NATIONAL FORUM OF CHURCH MUSICIANS:  The National Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians has recently launched a new web site.  The site offers information on the programs and activities of the National Forum, and it also includes publications and resources, including the widely used Liturgical Guide.  The site has a special section with resources for choirs, chanters, youth choirs, and clergy. 2009-10 MALTA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE:  The Office of the Chancellor has announced the availability of applications for the Malta Scholarship Program for the 2009-10 academic year. This scholarship program was established at and is administered by the Archdiocese by means of a generous gift from the estate of Katina John Malta.  The donation and the formation of the scholarship program has been done in recognition of the love Katina had for the Church and to honor her desire to help others, especially children and youth of the Orthodox Christian Faith. At least two scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.  Application criteria and forms are available through the web site of the Office of the Chancellor at

NATIONAL YOUNG ADULT PILGRIMAGE TO RUSSIA: Registration is now open for the National Young Adult Pilgrimage to Russia!  Space is limited to 35 young adults and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. SCOUTING SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE:  The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting, an agency of SCOBA, offers two scholarships annually. The recipient for first place will receive $1,000 and the runner up will receive $500 upon acceptance to a four year accredited college or university. The candidates are evaluated on their involvement in their church, school, community, scholastic achievements, and Scouting. 2009-10 GIOLES SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE: Applications are now available for scholarships to be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year from the George and Naouma (Gioule) Gioles Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The Gioles Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 with a generous gift in memory of George and Naouma Gioles.  At least three scholarships of

OCMC to Dedicate New Florida Building May 21 -- The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), the foreign mission and evangelism agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas(SCOBA), will dedicate its new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building on Thursday, May 21, 2009 in St. Augustine, Florida.

JOHN CHRYSOSTOM ORATORICAL FESTIVAL UPDATES: St John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival Updates - Information about schedules for District and Metropolis Oratorical Festivals has been placed on the web pages for the Festival. 2009 NATIONAL ORATORICAL FESTIVAL: The Twenty-sixth annual St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival will be hosted by the Metropolis of Chicago in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota on the weekend of June 12-14, 2009. The Rev. Paul Paris and The Rev. R. Demetrios Andrews host co-chairpersons, and members of the host committee recently met with Presvytera Margaret Orfanakos, Archdiocese Co-chairperson, to discuss the plans for the weekend.

NATIONAL ORTHODOX RADIO PROGRAM: Fr. Chris sat down with Metropolitan Jonah to talk about about Orthodoxy in America during His Beatitude's recent visit to Miami Lakes, Florida. Also, a short segment from Fr. Peter Propovski on "Daniel and the Three Youths" will be available this week.
