Former PCT General Secretary C.M. Kao hospitalized for heart problems

Friends of Rev. C.M. Kao are urged to pray for the health of the former Presbyterian Church in Taiwan General Secretary who fell ill on March 7th after dinner and was immediately rushed to Sinlau Hospital. Upon diagnosis, doctors determined that Kao would need a heart bypass surgery. Kao was transferred to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Hospital the following day for a surgery. He is now conscious and resting in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
According to Kao’s daughter, Kao Li-shiang, though the surgery was successful, her father still needs plenty of rest. The family hopes that in the following six months, churches and organizations can refrain from inviting Kao to participate in events or ministries.
Kao’s daughter also revealed that her father had undergone several surgeries in the past three months and they have taken a toll on his body. She hopes that her father can truly rest after the latest surgery and asks that friends remember her father in their prayers.
Sources close to the family said Kao was pacing in his bedroom and thinking about some issues when he suddenly fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Since Sinlau Hospital does not have a heart surgeon and a bypass surgery was needed, he was transferred to NCKU Hospital. The surgery lasted eight hours and was deemed successful, but Kao will need to stay at the hospital for another week or two.
A friend of the family urged churches across Taiwan to pray for the 82-year-old Kao as this was a major surgery and will require he take significant time off to rest. Kao’s health condition will not permit him to be too busy or too stressed for some time.
