LOUISVILLE - A committee charged with reviewing the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s
relationship and membership in Christian Churches Together [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102519083925&e=001Fmudeit7oeeZMIGkCPsXPidbqX0T-cx9lKgTJCNsjrnj_il4Hllyl_i7Bws32RgENF_4bs8p7BrV7Y36QwKK3wXjmpBIcvIncNiaT5W1ux9vEE3YmHtRluoEQoHt7671fgyyQqpET54=]
(CCT) is seeking comments from all Presbyterians.
CCT was founded in 2006 to bring a wider circle of U.S.-based Christian denominations
and organizations together than exists in other ecumenical forums. It has adopted
overcoming poverty and evangelism as its primary foci.
The 2006 PC(USA) General Assembly approved "provisional" membership in CCT and ordered
a review to consider "ongoing" membership status in 2010.
The Committee on Ecumenical Relations, charged with bringing a report to the 219th
General Assembly, has appointed a group to conduct the review and make a recommendation.
"This review committee is interested in hearing from any in the church who might
have comments about CCT, its work, and Presbyterian relationships with CCT," said
the Rev. Carlos Malave, associate for ecumenical relations in the Office of the
General Assembly.
Comments may be sent to Malave by e-mail [mailto:carlos.malave@pcusa.org].
Members of the review committee include the Rev. Daniel Rift of Dallas; the Rev.
Aimee Moiso of Santa Clara, CA; the Rev. George Telford of Atlanta; Rachel Medema
of Portland, Or; and the Rev. J. Herbert Nelson of Memphis.
Information for this story furnished by Carlos Malave.
