The 54th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan  will be

held in the auditorium of Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei from  April

14th to 17th this year. The opening worship will focus on  remembering the

500th anniversary of John Calvin’s birth. The theme of this  year’s meeting

will be “Being a Healthy Church, Practicing the Commandment  of Love”

and the focus of this year’s sharing will be on senior  citizens ministry.

There are fewer motions during this year’s assembly compared  to

previous years because pastors have agreed to focus on missions.  Several

PCT foreign missionaries have returned from their mission fields  in time to

attend the assembly and will be delivering their ministry reports  there so

that local pastors can get a better understanding of how PCT  foreign

>missions ministry is progressing.

To honor John Calvin’s legacy, the opening worship this year  will take on

a special format advocated by Calvin, which will not include any  choir

presentations or organ music. Instead, all attendees will take  their seats

prior to the opening worship and Scripture will be read in  Taiwanese and

>other aboriginal languages.
