Bishop Upama Urges Congregations to Build Strong Lutheran
Communion in Thailand

Addressing delegates attending the March 2009 general assembly
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thailand (ELCT), Bishop
Visanukorn Upama exhorted church members to focus on building a
united, strong Lutheran communion in Thailand, which would
include increasing ELCT's membership and working toward financial

Brazilian Lutheran Pastor Giese to Head Regional Ecumenical
Council

Brazilian Lutheran pastor Rev. Nilton Giese, has been named as
the new general secretary of the Latin American Council of
Churches (CLAI).  He was elected during CLAI’s board of
directors meeting in Lima, Peru. Giese, 49, has been acting
general secretary since February 2008. (More at:
