New slate of officers unveiled at 54th PCT General Assembly

The 54th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT)  elected new leaders during this year’s annual meeting. Lin  Tsung-jeng replaced outgoing Moderator Asing Aman and Lai Hsien-chang  was elected as Vice Moderator. In addition, Chiohh Lyian-Syian was  elected Clerk, Pusin Tali was elected Vice Clerk, and Kho Keng-Tek (Hsu  Ching-De) was elected Treasurer.

A ceremony was held on April 14th at 11:00 p.m. at MacKay Memorial  Hospital’s auditorium where the General Assembly was held this  year. On behalf of the General Assembly, newly elected Moderator Lin  Tsung-jeng from Tainan Presbytery presented outgoing Moderator Asing  Aman with a gold insignia bearing the PCT emblem. Lin said that the  legacy left by Asing Aman will stand the test of time, just like the  emblem of the PCT.

During his inaugural speech, Lin recalled that this year happened to be  the 30th anniversary of the Kaohsiung Incident. “The PCT has never  shrunk back in the face of a national crisis, and it will always stand  by those who are oppressed,” he said. Lin hoped that all local PCT  churches will continue to shine and be the light and the salt of  Taiwanese society as they continually renew themselves spiritually.
