House of Thailand reaches out to Thai workers in Taiwan

“We have been worshipping here for five months and we have also baptized five of our

countrymen during this time,” said Thai missionary Su Chuan-tung. According to Su, the

Center for Thailand Workers in Taipei founded by the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan North

Synod serves as a base reaching out to Thai workers in the area by giving them a place to

get together after work. The center is affectionately known as “House of Thailand”.

On a typical day, foreign laborers from Thailand drop by House of Thailand after work to

relax, get together, enjoy music, surf on the internet, etc. This center also offers Chinese and

English classes on Saturdays. Because of its ministry, many Thai seekers have also

accepted Christ and found a church to attend. “My family in Thailand is very glad that I can

come to Taiwan as a missionary and share God’s love with my countrymen,” said Su

>through a translator.

PCT North Synod ordained Su on June 14th during a thanksgiving service where Su

affirmed PCT’s confession of faith and vowed to follow its ordinances. During the sermon,

Rev. Chuang En-jung remarked that missionaries were people who knew God’s heart best

and were especially equipped with stamina and abilities to answer God’s call in cross-

>cultural missions.

North Synod Assistant Moderator Rev. Chen Ching-wen represented the synod in

congratulating and giving a financial gift to Su and his wife during this special occasion.

Chen thanked God for helping Taiwanese and Thai churches establish a strong partnership

and remarked that Taiwanese missionaries in Thailand have been greatly helped and

encouraged by local churches while serving in Thailand. Therefore, it is only fitting that

Taiwanese churches help Su in his ministry reaching out to Thai workers in Taiwan.

According to reports, a few local churches have been helping House of Thailand in recent

months by reaching out to Thai workers in the area and there are currently four Thai

churches in northern Taiwan, including House of Thailand. For more information, contact
