UCC Passports present world of ministries to Synod goers

Delegates and visitors to General Synod 27 will find learning about
the mission and ministry of the UCC a breeze this year, thanks to
passports for special "e-mmersion centers" located throughout the exhibit hall.

The e-mmersion centers are kiosks of computers set to highlight
particular UCC ministries' web pages. At each kiosk, visitors can
learn about that particular ministry and sign up to receive e-mail
updates. UCC national staff members are on-hand at each e-mmersion
center to assist users and answer questions.

To help navigate the centers, special UCC passports are available at
each kiosk. The red-covered passports contain a space for six separate
passport stamps ? one for each e-mmersion kiosk. Synod goers can take
their filled passports to the UCC Resources store in the exhibit hall
(booth 142) and redeem them for a one-time $5 discount on their
purchases. (The "bag of books" and "Sing! Prayer and Praise" book are
not part of the $5 discount promotion.)

"The UCC's communication staff developed the e-mmersion-passport idea
to help Synod attendees become more easily acquainted with the
national ministries of the denomination," says the Rev. J. Bennett
Guess, UCC communication director. "We hope that it will help make the
Synod experience both fun and meaningful."

The six e-mmersion centers are Global Ministries, myUCC, Take Action!,
Financial Ministries, Networking for Vitality, and UCC Resources. They
are visible from anywhere in the exhibit hall, easily identified by
huge towers with a large letter "e" on each.
