PROK and CWM delegations visit PCT headquarters

Former moderator of Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK) Rev.
Kim Do-In,
along with 6 other PROK Iksan Presbytery members, visited PCT headquarters on
March 18.
Rev. Kim currently serves as moderator of PROK Iksan Presbytery.
With PCT General Secretary Andrew Chang overseas attending the funeral service
of Dr.
David Landsborough IV and a CWM conference afterward, the PROK delegation was
greeted
>by Assistant General Secretary Kho Sing-doh.
According to Rev. Kim Do-In, PROK currently has 350,000 members and 1,600
churches.
Iksan Presbytery is one of the 24 presbyteries under PROK and the presbytery
is marking its
94th anniversary this year. There are currently 70 churches under Iksan
Presbytery.
Following Rev. Kim’s report, it was Rev. Kho’s turn to introduce PCT. He
highlighted that PCT
currently has 1,200 churches and 220,000 members. PCT also uses more than 22
languages
>during services every Sunday.
Leaders from both churches exchanged gifts at the end as a sign of friendship
and goodwill.
PCT presented a crystal plaque featuring the church’s emblem while PROK
brought some
>Korean ginseng.
In related news, a delegation of CWM media and communications representatives
visited
several Christian mass media organizations in Taiwan on March 15~17. The
delegation
comprised of 11 staff members from Canada, UK, US, Jamaica, India,
Netherlands, and
>Madagascar.
Led by PCT Ecumenical Relations Secretary Hu Hong-chi, the group’s brief visit
included
stops at Taiwan Church Press news center in Taipei, Good News radio station,
Christian
Tribune, Overseas Radio and Television Inc., Good TV broadcasting corporation,
and other
Christian mass media and communications organizations.
The purpose of this CWM conference in Taiwan was to help delegates get an
overview of
>communication ministries in Taiwan.
