CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Lutherans are "a people of new birth, of living
hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3)," said the
Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in America (ELCA). Because of those gifts from God, Hanson said he "is
feeling confident hope" for the future of the ELCA.
