PCT 55th General Assembly Meeting elects new leaders

PCT General Assembly holds elections every year during its annual  meeting to

fill positions such as Moderator, Vice-Moderator, Clerk, Assistant  Clerk, etc.

This year’s elections were held on the evening of April 6 at  Chang Jung Girls’

Senior High School, Tainan city, the venue of this year’s  General Assembly

>Meeting.

Rev. Lai Hsien-chang was elected Moderator of the 55th General  Assembly;

Rev. Chiohh Lyian-syian, the Vice Moderator; Rev. Pusin Tali, the  Clerk; and

Rev. Hsu Jong-fong, the Assistant Clerk. Lai, Chiohh, and Pusin  Tali were

elected on the first round of voting. Church Elder Huang Po-tung  from Changhua

>Presbytery was elected Accountant.

Following a long-standing PCT tradition, pastors elected to serve  in the 
previous

year’s General Assembly are usually nominated and elected to  the next higher

position in the General Assembly the following year. Furthermore,  there is 
usually

a balance between northerners and southerners among elected  leaders. In

recent years, securing enough Aborigine representation has also  been factor to

consider when electing leaders in the PCT General Assembly.
