Online Bible study is focus of May 9 bulletin inserts

[Episcopal News Service] The study of Scripture is basic to the
Christian life. Now the Episcopal Church has harnessed the Internet to
allow Episcopalians to participate in Bible study by posting comments
and thoughts on each week's Sunday readings from the Revised Common
Lectionary. ENS Weekly bulletin inserts for May 9 outline this service
and invite all church members and others to join in the online
discussion.

NEWARK: Kids 'trash' sanctuary with Earth Day art

>By Sharon Sheridan

[Episcopal News Service] Diana Wilcox approached the dragon-shaped
sculpture lurking beside the wooden pulpit at the Episcopal Church of
the Redeemer in Morristown, New Jersey. Black fabric trailed from the
mouth of its TV-screen head, mounted on a chicken-wire body with a
black-hose tail spiraled with green duct tape arched over its back.

"This is Elvis being eaten by a scorpion. I have to get his torso
back," she said, locating the rock star's plastic head and upper body
and positioning it behind the "dragon's" head.

ARIZONA: Religious community rallies against immigration law

>By ENS staff

[Episcopal News Service] Bishop Kirk S. Smith told Arizona
Episcopalians April 23 not to panic in response to a new state law
that will make it illegal for undocumented immigrants to be in Arizona
and that will require people suspected of being illegal to show proof
of legal status.

"I know that the passage of this law is deeply troubling to many of
you, especially those of undocumented status. I know that many of you
fear for your jobs, your families, and your future in this state and
in this country," Smith wrote in a letter to Arizona Episcopalians.

NEWARK: Church delays decision on Tiffany window sale

>By Sharon Sheridan

[Episcopal News Service] The vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in
Paterson, New Jersey, won't decide whether to accept an anonymous
collector's $2 million offer to buy 13 of its stained-glass windows
until it sees the report of a newly created Stewardship Resource
Committee in September.

Famed artisan Louis Tiffany created 12 of the windows at the Diocese
of Newark church; his contemporary, artist John La Farge, the other.
The collector, who made the unsolicited offer about a year ago,
originally asked for a decision no later than this month because he
hoped to exhibit the windows this fall.
