Bulletin inserts outline conference on domestic poverty

More than 170 Episcopalians, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts
Schori, House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson and others
involved in social service ministries gathered in Newark, New Jersey,
April 28-30 for "Called to Serve: The Episcopal Church Responds to
Domestic Poverty," a conference designed to explore the nature of
domestic poverty and the church's role in addressing it. ENS Weekly
bulletin inserts report on the conference and the Episcopal Church's
efforts to relieve poverty. NOTE: The "Jubilee" video will be posted
on Wednesday, May 5 at the URL listed in the insert text.

KENYA: Constitutional talks with church collapse after clergy pull-out

[Ecumenical News International, Nairobi] Church leaders in Kenya have
abandoned constitutional talks with the government, announcing that
they will rally Christians to vote against the draft basic law for the
east African country when it is put to a referendum.
