LOS ANGELES: Bruce, Glasspool pay first pastoral calls as bishops suffragan

[Episcopal News Service] The two newest bishops in the Diocese of Los
Angeles and the Episcopal Church didn't waste any time getting right
down to ministry.
Bishop Suffragan Diane Jardine Bruce, 53, on May 16 confirmed and
received 15 people and baptized eight during Sunday services at St.
Clement's by-the-Sea Church in San Clemente where she had served as
rector for the past nine years before her election in December.

NEW YORK: St. Philip's celebrates Thurgood Marshall feast day

[Diocese of New York] The Diocese of New York celebrated Supreme Court
Justice Thurgood Marshall's feast day on Sunday, May 16 with a service
at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Harlem, where Marshall was a
longtime parishioner and vestry member.

MARYLAND: Joe Goodwin Burnett appointed assistant bishop
[Diocese of Maryland] Bishop Joe Goodwin Burnett, of Nebraska, will
serve as assistant bishop of Maryland effective April 1, 2011,
following the Jan. 1, 2011, retirement of Maryland Suffragan Bishop
John L. Rabb.
