Girl experiences God during “priceless” hitchhiking tour of Taiwan

25-year-old Chiou Tzu-yun from Chung-Hsin Presbyterian Church in Taipei had
always

dreamed of touring the world since she was in high school. Recently, she
embarked on a tour

of Taiwan that took her merely 12 days to complete and, more astoundingly,
didn’t even cost

>her a penny.

When Chiou was interviewed by Taiwan Church News on May 17, she admitted she
was

extremely surprised that she was able to hitchhike across Taiwan without
spending a penny. “I

met angels everywhere I went. Taiwanese people’s kindness is astounding,” she
said.

Chiou carried a backpack with a sign that read “My NT$0 hitch-hiking trip
across Taiwan” on

it. She started out from Taipei and headed south to Pingtung before traveling
north along

Taiwan’s east coast, and she traveled along main roads.

She originally planned to get some temporary jobs as she traveled to pay for
her food and

lodging, but was surprised to meet many kindhearted people who treated her to
meals. Some

even invited her to spend a few nights at their houses. In the end, she only
slept in a park once

>during her journey.

What Chiou remembered the most about this trip was the first people who
offered her a lift.

Not only were they a Christian couple, they even made a detour to a local
church so that a

pastor could pray for God’s blessing over her journey. She also stayed at a
few PCT churches

>overnight during her hitchhiking tour.

Chiou confessed that fulfilling her dreams involved taking some risks, but she
was most

surprised to meet so many angels who helped her along the way. These
encounters touched

her heart and made her realize God was with her every step of the way. This
realization was

perhaps the most valuable and unexpected lesson she learned during her
hitchhiking tour.

“I’d brought along a little booklet on this tour. Whenever a person offered me
a ride or invited

me to stay overnight, I’d ask them to sign their names in this booklet as a
keepsake for

>myself,” she said.

She added that she had gathered 58 signatures on this tour of Taiwan and
planned to collect

more signatures during a working holiday in Australia. She traveled to
Melbourne on May 19

and plans to spend one year touring Australia.
