PCT rebuilding efforts continue on eve of typhoon’s 1st anniversary

PCT held another conference on post-Morakot reconstruction and outreach
ministries on July
15~16, 2010, at Chasan Aborigine reservation in Alishan Township, Chiayi
County.
Pastors and social workers representing the 6 PCT Morakot Reconstruction
Centers across
Taiwan convened to report on their recent work progress and discuss challenges
and new
>developments.
As PCT rebuilding efforts enter a new stage, PCT General Secretary Andrew
Chang shared
that many people have asked him how the General Assembly planned to use the
NT$200
>million it received in Morakot donations.
Chang underscored that more money doesn’t always translate into better
ministry results
unless there is a great vision in place before work begins that guides all
efforts.
The meeting focused on the needs of every reconstruction center at the
present. For example,
South Bunun Presbytery’s representative, Rev. Chu Mei-fang, said her center
planned to stock
up canned food, rice, and dry noodles ahead of typhoon season. But the
presbytery also
>needed 4 generators.
Tsou District representatives reported that their center needed 5 generators
and hoped
>churches would help by giving an offering.
PCT General Assembly plans to hold a series of events this August to remember
this tragedy
and many forums and concerts are currently in the works.
