Church Publishing to cut 40 percent of its workforce, close Denver
office

[Episcopal News Service] Church Publishing Inc. (CPI) plans to reduce
its workforce by 40 percent and close its Denver, Colorado, office,
beginning Dec. 31.

CPI is an affiliate company of the Church Pension Group (CPG), which
manages the Episcopal Church Pension Fund for lay and clergy 
employees,
among other operations. The Nov. 3 announcement was made in a letter 
to
all CPG employees, said Dennis Sullivan, CPG president, in a Nov. 5
telephone interview with ENS.

Haiti diocesan-reconstruction plan symbolizes 'new vision,' bishop 
says

Haitian Connection meeting hears that 'dependency holds back
development'

[Episcopal News Service - Miami] The first phase of post-earthquake
reconstruction and development of the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti will
cost close to $197 million, according to a plan released here during a
Nov. 3-5 meeting of many of the diocese's current mission partners.

The Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the Diocese of 
Haiti
(Phase 1) says that the $196,861,926 cost estimate includes a
$24,319,400 "local contribution," thus leaving $172,542,526 to come 
from
outside sources.

A version of the plan was released during the Haiti Connection
Conference in Miami. Close to 185 people from 32 U.S. states, as well 
as
Washington D.C., Canada, the Virgin Islands and Jamaica, were 
registered
to attend. The participants, who represent organizations engaged in
ministry in Haiti, gather biennially to exchange information about 
their
work. The last conference was November 2008 in Port-au-Prince, the
now-devastated Haitian capital.

ATLANTA: Holy Innocents' Episcopal School raises $33,000 for juvenile
diabetes research

[Episcopal News Service] Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta,
Georgia, has raised more than $33,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes 
Research
Foundation's (JDRF) in a Walk to Cure Diabetes, making it the
top-grossing school in the nation to help find a cure for diabetes and
its complications, according to a press release from the school.
