(UMNS) - The Study of Ministry Commission has mapped out changes that include a shift away from security of employment for elders, a move to group candidacy mentoring, and separating ordination from full annual conference membership. Interactive webcast to feature 'Lost in Woonsocket' NEW YORK (UMNS) - The United Methodist Special Program on Substance Abuse and Related Violence is inviting United Methodists to participate in an interactive live webcast at 7 p.m. Eastern time Nov. 20 on the film "Lost in Woonsocket." The goal is to raise awareness and inspire congregations to respond compassionately to substance abuse in their church and community. Participants are invited to submit questions prior to the 30-minute webcast related to the film, substance abuse and recovery, or on congregational drug and alcohol ministries. A film screening could be held before or following the webcast or scheduled for another day. The webcast discussion will feature the film's director John Chester and one of its subjects, Normand Cartier. A Bible study resource and film highlights are available on the [17]SPSARV website.
