Texas church honors soldiers with wreaths

   KILLEEN, Texas (UMNS) â Beverly Norman looks out over a sea of 
red-and-green
   wreaths next to grave markers at the Central Texas Veterans 
Cemetery. Then,
   she places a wreath at the burial site of her son, who was killed 
in Iraq.
   The 2,400 wreaths are there because of the efforts of Jean Shine 
of First
   United Methodist in Killeen.

Haiti Volunteer in Mission teams delayed

   NEW YORK (UMNS) â Plans for 12 United Methodist volunteer teams 
scheduled to
   travel to Haiti in January as part of the denominationâs 
earthquake response
   have been canceled. The decision by United Methodist Volunteers in 
Mission
   was made in light of recent experience in Haiti surrounding the 
response to
   the presidential election.

RethinkChurch.org launched

   NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) â The United Methodist Church has 
officially
   launched a newly redesigned website for young adult spiritual 
seekers,
   [18]RethinkChurch.org, which invites visitors to question, 
discuss, get
   involved and make a difference. The site is the successor to
   10thousanddoors.org.
   Throughout December, advertising on cable networks (ABC Family, 
Comedy
   Central, Discovery and MTV) and multiple digital channels will 
direct
   viewers to the new site. The advertising messages are informed by 
research
   that says 18- to 34-year-olds desire to make a difference with 
their lives.

Interfaith leaders gather at Bethlehem conference

   BETHLEHEM (UMNS) â More than 400 Muslim, Christian, and Jewish 
leaders from
   across Palestine and the world gathered Dec. 14 at the first 
International
   Islamic-Christian Conference in Bethlehem. Organized by Religions 
for Peace
   â Palestine, in cooperation with the Palestinian Islamic Christian
   Commission, the event was designed to advance dialogue and 
cooperation among
   Christians and Muslims in Palestine, and to enhance the culture of
   co-existence and respect for the other.
